Katherine Knight is resident physiotherapist at the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy,
Knight, who specialises in physiotherapy for sailors and is currently based in San Francisco with the Artemis Racing America’s Cup team, worked with the gold and bronze medal winning Swedish Olympic sailing team during the London 2012 sailing events.
She has also worked with Olympic sailing athletes from other nations, the British youth, development and Paralympic squads and sailors competing in the Commodore’s Cup and Volvo Ocean Race.
Knight can often found on the water herself and is a champion foiling Moth racer.
She said: “Developments in sports science and innovative training techniques are enabling sailors to push themselves as well as the boat harder to get the edge over their rivals.
“As with all aspects of innovation in top level sport, one of the benefits is the trickle down of these advances from the preserve of the elite, to mainstream usage.”
She added: “I’ve brought together these advances in elite fitness and training and presented them for the benefit of all sailors.
